Just lately, we received an EV5. Beautiful place, but the doors are a major pain. You can't access the rear compartment unless you use the key or the unlock button located inside the vehicle. As a result, you will be unable to enter if you pause to retrieve an item from the rear. Is something being overlooked?

Yes, definitely. Thank you. One option is to switch off the engine, while the other is to reach inside and unlock it that way.
Does a child lock on accidentally?

I don't know, but it could be something in the settings of more recent Kias.

It seems to me that all the doors will unlock and be able to be opened from the outside when I come to a complete stop and hit the P button to park.

That is your sole option if you do not intend to turn off the vehicle. If this continues to happen whenever you turn off the engine, you may want to check the infotainment system for an Auto open feature that allows you to lock and open the door automatically. You may learn about all of your choices in this video.

Consider experimenting with the "Enable when P" option.
